The Opportunity

As Snoqualmie Casino, owned and operated by the Snoqualmie Tribe, prepared for a significant expansion of their property, they envisioned more than just additional square footage—they saw an opportunity to elevate the guest experience. The expansion plans included a luxury hotel, convention center, spa, and three new restaurants, all of which would place increased demands on the property’s water infrastructure.

Their existing water system, originally built in 2008 to serve only the casino, was not equipped to meet the scale or complexity of the future development. To bring their vision to life, the Tribe needed a water supply system that could deliver reliable pressure, advanced filtration, and long-term performance—all without disrupting operations at the casino.

THE SOLUTION

To support the Snoqualmie Tribe’s ambitious hotel and amenity expansion, a complete overhaul of the property’s water infrastructure was required. PumpTech was a natural partner for the project, having previously engineered and installed the casino’s original filtration and booster system.

Collaborating closely with the Tribe, Cummins Group, and WSP, PumpTech designed and delivered a comprehensive, custom-engineered water system built to match the scale and sophistication of the new development. At the heart of the solution was a packaged booster and filtration station featuring a Tonka filtration system, four Grundfos booster pumps, a treatment room, variable frequency drives (VFDs), control panels, and advanced instrumentation—all assembled in a 2-part CMU block building before being delivered to the site.

The new system works in tandem with a newly drilled second well at the base of the property. PumpTech sourced and installed the new well pump, complete with valves, instrumentation, and controls. Together, the two wells feed into three interconnected water reservoirs, managed through a lead/lag system that adjusts pumping activity based on demand and reservoir levels. The booster system also operates in a lead/lag configuration to maintain consistent pressure and flow across both the casino and hotel facilities.

Keeping the project on time and on budget required careful planning and flexibility. Key considerations included:

  • Coordinating with the construction schedule for the hotel tower and well drilling
  • Navigating limited site access and preparing the terrain for delivery and installation
  • Constructing the building off-site in two transportable sections, sized for delivery from Salem, Oregon
  • Integrating with existing site controls and available power
  • Adding filtration media to the filtration system on-site to minimize transport weight
  • Sequencing testing and commissioning to align with phased construction

PumpTech’s Integration team worked closely with the casino’s system integrator to commission controls and SCADA over a multi-month timeline, ensuring a successful startup, system transition, and long-term reliability.

THE OUTCOME

Slated for commissioning in June 2025, the new water system represents a critical step in bringing the Snoqualmie Tribe’s expansion plans to life. The system will supply reliable, high-quality water for the entire development—including hotel guest rooms, the expanded casino floor, a state-of-the-art convention center, a full-service spa, eight restaurants, and site-wide grounds irrigation.

Beyond capacity, the design delivers resilience, flexibility, and long-term performance. The lead/lag configuration ensures efficient use of both wells and the booster systems, while the advanced filtration and treatment systems maintain water quality that meets the high standards of a destination resort.

With infrastructure now in place to support growth, the Tribe is well-positioned to elevate the guest experience, cementing Snoqualmie Casino’s role as a premier entertainment and hospitality destination in the Pacific Northwest.
